You’ve Got To Smelt Down Your Silver

Hello and ahoy, you readers there. What did you do with your weekend? Did you waste it away watching the TV or the computer, or did you actually do something? As for me, I was feeling positively inspired by this quote from the greatly-lamented late Clarence Birdseye: “Only through curiosity can we discover opportunities, and only through gambling can we take advantage of them.” I was feeling so inspired, in fact, that I spent the entire weekend down at the casino.

I also managed to find the time to go through my stuff, taking care to isolate the precious metals, namely silver. I hadn’t done that since the war, so it was really starting to pile up. The last time, I took all my silver to the local smelter, who smelted it down and turned it into bullets. Of course, when I got the bullets back, I put my finishing touch on them, filing them down with my file into the perfect shape. Then I boxed them up and mailed them out to our troops on the front lines. And that’s how you supported the war effort.

They stopped putting real silver in coins years ago, but I’ve been saving up some of the good old ones. I say that that metal is worth more as a bullet than as a 10-cent dime, and you’d be a fool to disagree. The smelter went out of business years ago, but my barbecue should be good enough to get the job done.

Until next time!
